First Reads count to 26, let us see what we have here . . .
The Dressmaker by Kate Alcott
The Red Diary by Toni Blake
'The Dressmaker' by Kate Alcott . . .3/5 stars First read by Alcott, I found it interesting by not riveting or all consuming. I was wanting more and not getting it. Tess I fond to be fresh eyes and enthusiastic about making her life better and taking chance. Lucile was not an individual I could care for in in form right from the beginning. Her action did not surprise me at all. Jack I found to be young and endearing but still not clear in his wants. Jack has a very sweet nature about him but there was just something there that I could not pinpoint. There were many other notable characters.
'The Red Diary' by Toni Blake . . . 4/5 stars First read by Blake and I believe that I will take a chance on more of her work. Diaries are private but the temptation to read what does not belong to you can outweigh common sense in some. Some know when to stop other keep going back to consume all they can for good or bad. Nick could not determine if he continue to read Lauren's diary to gain or exploit. When time came to make it right he was caught with is pants down.
I am not a professional reviewer. These are just my personal opinions.
